Ingredients

  • 1 cup vanilla bean split and scraped
  • 2 tablespoons honey or condensed milk
  • 1 cup fresh citrus juice lemon or lime
  • 2 cups ice cubes

Equipment

  • Blender
  • Measuring cups and spoons

Method

  1. Scoop the seeds from the split vanilla bean into a blender. Add the honey and fresh citrus juice to infuse the flavor and sweeten the mixture.
1 cup vanilla bean, 2 tablespoons honey, 1 cup fresh citrus juice
  2. Pour in the ice cubes and secure the lid on the blender. Start blending on a high setting until the mixture is smooth, thick, and slushy, with a velvety texture.
    2 cups ice cubes
  3. Pause briefly to check the texture; if it's too thick, add a splash of water or more citrus juice and blend again until you reach a creamy, slushy consistency.
  4. Pour the vanilla slushie into chilled glasses, allowing the icy mixture to settle and look invitingly frosty.
  5. Garnish with additional citrus zest or a vanilla bean pod if desired, and serve immediately with a chilled straw or spoon.

Notes

For an extra layer of flavor, add a splash of vanilla liqueur or top with a sprig of mint. Keep the slushie cold until serving to maintain its velvety texture.
