- Place the frozen strawberries in the blender. They should feel firm and icy but break easily when pressed with a spoon.
- Add the freshly squeezed lemon juice to the blender. The bright, aromatic scent of lemon should start to mingle with the berries.
- If desired, add a teaspoon of honey or sugar to enhance sweetness and balance the tartness. Blend briefly to start breaking down the ingredients.
- Gently bruise the mint leaves to release their fragrant oils, then add them into the blender for a refreshing herbal note.
- If you want a thicker, icier texture, add a cup of ice cubes. These will help create a frosty, crunchy consistency as they blend in.
- Blend all the ingredients on high until the mixture is smooth, icy, and with a slightly gritty texture; this should take about 30 seconds. You’ll hear a consistent whir and see the mixture turn a vibrant pink-red color.
- Stop the blender and check the texture. If it’s too thick, add a splash of water or lemon juice and blend again briefly to loosen it up. If it’s too thin, scoop in a few more frozen strawberries or ice cubes and blend again.
- Pour the chilled strawberry slushie into glasses. The icy mixture should be vibrant in color, slushy in texture, and very refreshing to the eye and nose.
- Garnish with a sprig of fresh mint or a thin lemon wedge for a beautiful presentation and extra aroma.
- Enjoy immediately with a straw or spoon, savoring the cool, sweet, and tangy burst of summer flavor with every sip or spoonful.
Notes
For an extra zing, add a splash of orange juice or a pinch of salt to enhance flavor. Use ripe, juicy strawberries for best color and sweetness. Adjust ice quantity based on desired thickness.
