Method
- Crumble the store-bought cake into a large mixing bowl until the texture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Add softened butter and mix thoroughly with your hands or a spoon until the mixture is moist and holds together when pressed.
- Stir in powdered sugar gradually, mixing well to create a firm, dough-like consistency perfect for shaping.
- Scoop about two tablespoons of the mixture and roll it into a smooth sphere between your palms, then place each on a lined baking sheet. Repeat with remaining mixture.
- Insert a cake pop stick into each cake sphere, pressing gently to secure the stick inside, then refrigerate the balls for 15-20 minutes to firm up.
- Prepare your coating by melting candy melts or chocolate chips in a double boiler or microwave, stirring until smooth. Add a teaspoon of oil if the coating is too thick.
- Dip each chilled cake pop into the melted coating, using a spoon or dipping tool to cover completely, then gently tap off excess and place on a cooling rack.
- While the coating is still soft, press an edible eye onto each cake pop for the eyeball detail. Use a small dab of royal icing or additional coating if needed to secure the eyes.
- Allow the coating to set and harden completely at room temperature or in the refrigerator for 10-15 minutes.
- For extra creepy detail, use food coloring and a fine brush or edible marker to add pupils or veins to the eyeballs if desired.
- Once fully decorated and the coating is firm, serve your Monster Eyeball Cake Pops on a spooky platter and enjoy these creepy treats!
Notes
Keep cake pops refrigerated if not serving immediately to maintain firmness. Use different colored coatings or edible decorations to customize the monsters.
