Ingredients

  • 1 cup frozen blue raspberries preferably unsweetened or lightly sweetened
  • 1/2 cup fresh lemon or lime juice adds zest and brightness
  • 2 tablespoons simple syrup or honey adjust sweetness to taste
  • 1 cup ice cubes for crumbling and icy texture

Equipment

  • Blender
  • Measuring cups and spoons

Method

  1. Place the frozen blue raspberries into the blender, followed by the fresh citrus juice and sweetener.
  2. Add the ice cubes on top of the fruit mixture to ensure a thick, icy texture.
  3. Secure the lid on the blender tightly to prevent splashing, then start blending on low speed, gradually increasing to high.
  4. Blend until the mixture is smooth, thick, and slushy, with no large ice chunks remaining and the color vibrant.
  5. Pause the blender to check the consistency—if it's too thick, add a splash of water or additional citrus juice and blend briefly again.
  6. Pour the bright blue slushie into chilled glasses, ensuring a generous, icy finish with a striking color.
  7. Serve immediately with a fun straw or fresh berry garnish to enjoy the refreshing icy treat.

Notes

For an extra punch of color, add a few drops of blue food coloring during blending. For a more pronounced tartness, increase the citrus juice. Adjust sweetness with more or less sweetener based on your taste.
